The hiring process in Digitalya

Landing your dream software development role can feel like conquering a digital Everest. At Digitalya, we’re all about building a world-class team, which starts with finding talented individuals passionate about creating exceptional software. This article will unveil our entire hiring process, step-by-step, so you know exactly what your journey will be like if you apply. From the initial conversation to the final offer, we’ll detail what to expect and how to showcase your skills, which can prove that you are the perfect fit for the blue-minded team!

1. Building a great blue-minded team

A company’s success largely depends on the strength and cohesion of its team. At Digitalya, we pride ourselves on being a group of people who not only possess the necessary technical skills but also embody a set of core values that foster innovation, collaboration, and a positive work environment.

The term “blue-minded” is inspired by the qualities associated with the color blue, like calmness, trust, and intelligence. Our blue-minded collective is characterized by our ability to think innovatively, work harmoniously, and remain resilient under pressure.

I liked that you didn’t have a checklist during the interview!

2. Unveiling your potential — stages in our hiring process

Our hiring process is designed to assess your skills but also to go beyond that. We want to understand your potential, your fit within our culture, and how we can grow together.

2.1 Getting acquainted — the chat with HR

This is the first step in the process — the informal conversation with our HR team. This is more than just a preliminary screening — it’s our chance to get to know you beyond your resume. During this chat, we focus on:

  • Understanding your background — your past experiences, educational background, and career aspirations.
  • Exploring your interests — what motivates you, your professional interests, and your interest in us.
  • Assessing cultural fit — we discuss our company values, culture, and expectations to see if they align with your personal and professional values.

Want a tip for success? Be authentic and open. This is your chance to showcase your personality and enthusiasm for the role. Try researching the company and team beforehand to be sure this is an environment you’d like to work in.

The interview was great; you’re really open to getting to know the other person!

2.2 Showcasing your skills — the online technical test

We have established a mutual interest by now. If you’re applying for a developer role, the next natural step is the online technical test.

This is the time to showcase your skills. This test is designed to evaluate your technical skills, problem-solving approach, and comfort with relevant technologies for the specific role you applied for.

This is also an opportunity for you to see if the difficulty of the test is something you are comfortable with. If this is not the case, you will probably feel the same about our projects, too.

What should you expect?

  • A coding challenge or a series of technical questions.
  • The format and difficulty will vary but always reflect the skills required for the role.
  • You’ll be given a set amount of time to complete the test.

Want a tip for success? Review the basics of your technical field. Stay calm, focused, and demonstrate your technical expertise.

2.3 Deep dive — the technical interview

After you complete the online test, the platform automatically generates a report and sends it to our team of senior developers.

Next, they’ll set up a meeting with you to assess and discuss your results and perhaps have a more in-depth conversation about how you approached this challenge.

If you’re not applying for a technical role, during this stage, the discussion will be adapted to the job opening you’ve applied to.
Want a tip for success? Remember your reasoning and approaches. You should be able to explain why you made a decision or responded in a certain way.

3. Finding the perfect fit — the last discussion and offer

This stage is crucial for both you and us, as it ensures that there is mutual alignment and understanding before extending an offer. It’s an opportunity to delve deeper into certain subjects, clarify any remaining questions, and discuss the terms of your potential employment.

What should you expect?

  • A final discussion with a member of the hiring team
  • A two-way chat — we’ll discuss the role, team culture, and career growth opportunities. You’ll have the chance to ask any remaining questions and get a clearer picture of what it’s like to work here.
  • You might receive a verbal offer outlining the position, compensation package, and start date.

I wasn’t nervous during the interview because of you!
